So We're Headed to Washington D.C. in the Spring For Vacation

We've been planning this for a few years now, but we made it official yesterday. We got our plane tickets (my first flight, but not Daisy's) and our Airbnb (first time for all of us there) reserved. My brother is stationed in D.C. this year so we were able to convince my mother to join us so she could visit him. It's more comforting on a "big scary trip" to have more people with you. It's a very short flight from Greenville, SC to D.C. so things are pretty reasonable. I also found it wonderful yesterday when I found out that the Smithsonian museums (more than you could remember off hand) and its zoo don't require even a penny to enjoy. Daisy is pretty excited, and despite my slight nervousness (I don't like the actual "traveling" part of traveling) I'm excited as well. It will be in the first week of May.

  1. My first time and only time ever flying was two years ago for a photo shoot. I went alone!!! I was so scared. Not really of flying but going through all the mess. It all went smoothley and was not as a big deal as I thought it would be. I loved being inside the airport. Its nice get so far in such a quick time. Enjoy.

A really scary thought but quite feasibly possible.

  4. Note that with air bnb you rate each other after your stay there, the owner and the tenant.

  8. First flight??????????????????
Unbelievable really..........you and Daisy should go visit her
relations in Laos........now that is a long flight.

Don't go too near the Zoo once called "the White House".
The baboon family inside might attack you and you will end of with
    rabies!
I look forward to your report on "the Smithsonian".
I doubt if you and Daisy will be walking around that marvellous
establishment with plastic containers of coke or shakes.

  10. Your first flight that's amazing. Enjoy it. On my first flight we went through vicious thunder storms and the plane leaked on me.

  11. I am sure you are going to love it. My husband and daughter went through a school trip 5 years ago and it was one of their most memorable trips yet. There's so much to see and do. So much history to explore. I was supposed to go with my daughter on her field trip this year, but not enough kids signed up so they cancelled it (our school is Title 1 so most of them couldn't afford the $800 fee). I'm super bummed, but I'll be looking forward to your full report when you get back.

  12. That's wonderful! Good for a first flight to be short so you can get used to the idea. I hope you love every minute of it. The museums are incredible. You will have an absolute ball.

  13. Hi, Adam! I'm been catching up on all of your posts, even if I haven't commented on each one. I hope you and Daisy enjoy your trip. I've been flying forever. It's really fun to see things from a new perspective, and clouds are glorious when seen from above. Just pack lots of patience and remember, "It's all good!" The Air and Space Museum is wonderful! Oh ~ wear comfortable, good walking shoes that are broken in!
