Fact of the Day: Old Violins

It didn't take very long for the violin to become popular in Europe. King Charles IX of France had many made for him in 1560 and one of these still exists today.

  3. That's got to be worth a lot. I have a friend who plays violin for weddings and receptions and is really good at it. She's earned quite a bit of money doing what she loves. Hugs...RO

  4. The wood in those old violins came from lumber hardened by the mini ice-age that covered Europe back then, and modern wood is softer and doesn't sound the same.
